Gas Fireplace Installation Port Moody

New Regency gas fireplace installed into an existing opening in a Port Moody living room

A new gas fireplace from Eaton's Heating goes into the opening your old one sits in, usually in a single day, and the stone, tile, or brick around it is never touched. As a Regency authorized dealer we install Regency and Napoleon fireplaces, the two lines we trust most for heat and flame. We have installed fireplaces across Port Moody for more than 20 years. A replacement includes the unit, the faceplate, the gas fitting, the venting connection, and removal of the old fireplace, and a new log set into a working firebox is a smaller job. Every job starts with a free estimate and a written quote, and financing is available at zero percent over 12 months.

A New Gas Fireplace in the Opening You Already Have

Direct-vent gas fireplace being fitted into an existing firebox in a Port Moody home

Most of the work of a gas fireplace was done when the house was built. The opening exists, the gas line is there, and the vent already runs to the outside. A new direct-vent unit goes into that opening, connects to the existing gas line, and vents through the existing path. Its faceplate covers the edge of the opening, so the finish around it stays exactly as it was. The free estimate is where we measure the opening, check the gas line and the vent, and show you the units that fit. The written quote that follows is the full price for the gas fireplace installation and service, with nothing added on the day.

As a Regency authorized dealer we install Regency and Napoleon fireplaces, and the choice between them is about the look and the heat you want. Both lines run from traditional log-style units to wide linear fireplaces with glass beads or stones. Both are heater-rated: built to warm the room rather than decorate it, with a sealed firebox, a blower, and a thermostat or remote. A modern unit lights with electronic ignition and shuts the pilot off between uses, which saves the gas a standing pilot burns all season. For a firebox that is still sound and just needs a better fire in it, we install 18-inch and 24-inch log sets, which drop into the existing unit and bring back a full, even flame at a fraction of the cost of a replacement.

The fireplaces we replace in Port Moody fall into two groups. The Heritage Woods, Heritage Mountain, Klahanie, Suter Brook, and Newport Village homes have the builder-installed units from the mid 1990s to 2010, set in a framed opening with a tile or drywall face, and a new unit goes into that opening as a like-for-like swap. The Glenayre and College Park homes from the 1950s to 70s often have wider original openings. There, a new insert with a faceplate sized to the opening goes in, or a new log set goes into the insert already there. Our Port Moody HVAC services cover both kinds of home. Eaton's Heating is TSBC licensed (LGA0200006), a Home Performance Contractor Network member, and holds a 4.9 rating across 400-plus Google reviews.

The install itself is a short day's work. The licensed gas fitter removes the old unit, sets the new fireplace in the opening, connects the gas line, connects the venting, fits the faceplate, sets the logs or the glass, connects the blower and the wall switch or remote, and runs the fireplace through a full cycle. The old unit and the packaging go out with us. Most replacements are done in one day, and log sets in a few hours. Financing at zero percent over 12 months can be set up when you accept the quote.

Why the Stone, Tile, and Brick Around Your Fireplace Stay Untouched

Every fireplace we install comes with a faceplate, which is the trim frame around the glass that overlaps the edge of the opening. It covers the gap between the new unit and the wall, and it comes in sizes and finishes that suit both the tile-faced openings in the 2000s homes and the wider openings in the mid-century houses. Because the faceplate covers the edge, the surrounding finish is never cut, drilled, or disturbed, and there is no patching or repainting afterward. We choose the faceplate at the estimate, once the opening is measured.

That is also why we describe the job as a replacement into an existing opening. The fireplace, the gas connection, the venting connection, and the faceplate are our work, start to finish. The mantel, the hearth, and the wall around them are not part of the installation and stay as they are. That is what most Port Moody homeowners want: a new fireplace in the living room they already have, with the same stone and the same mantel, and a much better fire in the middle of it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a fireplace installation take in Port Moody?

Most replacements are finished in one day, and the fireplace is running before we leave. A log set into an existing unit takes a few hours. The free estimate is where we confirm which one yours is and book the day.

Regency or Napoleon. Which one should I choose?

Both are heater-rated direct-vent fireplaces with electronic ignition, and both come in traditional and linear styles. Regency is the line we install most, for its flame and its build quality. As a Regency authorized dealer we can supply its full range. Napoleon is the choice when a particular size or look fits your opening better, especially in the linear styles. At the estimate we show you the units that fit your opening, and if two fit, you see both prices.

Can I keep my fireplace and just replace the logs?

Yes, if the firebox, the burner, and the valve are in good shape. An 18-inch or 24-inch log set replaces the worn logs and embers with a new set that gives a fuller, more even flame, and it is the right choice for the older inserts in Glenayre and College Park that still run well. If the firebox has rusted through or the valve is no longer made, a log set is money spent on a unit that is near the end, and we will tell you that at the estimate rather than sell you one.

Will a new gas fireplace actually heat the room?

Yes. The Regency and Napoleon units we install are heater-rated, with a sealed firebox, a blower, and a thermostat or remote, and they are built to warm the room they are in. In Port Moody's hillside homes, where the fireplace sits in the family room or the walkout basement, a new unit can carry that floor on its own through most of the winter and take the load off the furnace. The heat output is chosen to suit the room at the estimate.

Are there rebates for a new gas fireplace?

Sometimes. The FortisBC rebate programs change from year to year, and as a FortisBC Trade Ally we check what applies to the unit you choose at the time of the estimate, confirm your eligibility, and walk you through the application if one fits. We do not promise an amount before the estimate. Our BC rebates page lists what is current.

My fireplace still works. Why would I replace it?

You may not need to. If the fireplace is sound and the problem is a weak pilot, a dirty burner, or a worn blower, our gas fireplace repair in Port Moody crew will fix it and say so. Replacement is the better choice when the firebox has rusted through, when parts for the unit are no longer available, or when a builder-grade unit from the 2000s was built for looks more than heat and you want the room properly warm. The estimate is free either way, and we will tell you which one makes sense.
